I am a NativeAmerican......all 4 of my grandparents are native. Maternal grandparents are both from Canada..Cree & Ottawa. My paternal ones are Chippewa. She is originally a Lakota, her family having went to Canada with Chief Red Cloud, just before the massacre at Wounded Knee; then migrated a bit East, and then they were adopted by the Chippewa. this is all history of my family was told to us over & over. We were members of the Sault Ste. Marie tribe of chippewa Indians, but as of Dec. 3rd , we were disenrolled..said we were enrolled under wrong Peter Belongia. My family names are LaFromboise, Belenger, etc. HELP.I am 81.

Nice blog Merle. By the way, I am searching for family. I am oldest living relative here in the states. my brother was raised by our paternal grandparents, and I was raised by our maternal grandparents, due to a divorce when we were babies. He knew the family history, but he passed away. He was a great person, a member of the Blue Angels and i the navy for 231/2 years. We were close tho we lived so far apart, he in GA. and me in The upper peninsula of MI. I am disappointed to not be a Tribal member, as are my children & grandkids. Ancester names are: Lafromboise, Auger, Grimard, Bousher and several different spellings of Belongia..Belenger etc. Can anyone help?
